Relocation of the Trust’s headquarters within their historic estate at Doncaster involved the sensitive integration of a 90 space car park into a grade 2 listed setting of the refurbished administration building. Extensive consultation was carried out with the Local Authority heritage and tree protection officers to ensure that mature trees and important views were protected and the existing landscape character maintained.
The scheme was developed in conjunction with Steve Bennett Architectural Services and was designed to provide a formal entrance to the building, a native screened site boundary and car park shrubberies to break up linear views of car parking bays. Planning permission was granted on first application in February 2013.
The scheme has been well received by the Trust Board, who particularly appreciate how attractive the carpark looks from the adjacent Tickhill Road.
